Traditionally, who is supposed to pay for what when in comes to wedding expenses?

Traditionally, the bride’s family pays for the wedding & reception and the groom’s family pays for the rehearsal dinner. We kept ours as low cost as we could and I paid for a lot of it myself. My parents paid for my trouseau (don’t know if I spelled that right or not) and they paid for the reception. My husband’s parents paid for the rehearsal dinner. I paid for my veil, the cake, invitations, napkins, and decorations. And for the photographer my brothers and sisters went in together and paid for him and that was our wedding gift from them which was fine by us. That was about $200-$400 I didn’t have to spend! We had friends video tape the wedding and reception for free and my piano teacher from high school did the music at a pretty cheap rate. I would say in all we didn’t spend over $1000 on our wedding.
