Remember that each state makes it’s own laws. Some states, like California, are very strict, while others, like Virginia, are very lenient. In most states you need to prove that you’ve had firearms training, or served in the military, and go through a police back ground check. There must be some way you can do this. The rules for purchasing a gun are often not as difficult at a “Gun Show” as they are at a gun dealers shop. I think your bigger problem will be in getting the gun back into New Zealand. Your country’s gun import laws are MUCH stricter than ours. If you can’t buy the gun here you certainly can shop for one. Find the specific make/model you want and have a New Zealand gun shop order it for you.
