Topics for Discussion: Is the smoking ban a positive development?
As a whole, The Inter-Mountain’s readership is an interesting group. There are differences in age, race, sex, religion, education, income and background. Those factors influence each person’s views, needs, goals and ambitions. Such diverse opinions make for interesting discussion. In the hope of generating comment and conversation on various topics of interest to all of our readers, The Inter-Mountain will present “A Topic for Discussion” each week. We’ll give a viewpoint and encourage our readers to comment or provide other views. This week’s topic for discussion is as follows: Has the ban on smoking in Randolph County’s restaurants and bars been a positive development? The answer to this question certainly depends on whom you ask. Even now, more than a year later, smokers and some business owners continue to protest that decision while nonsmokers, other merchants and health care officials applaud the ban.
