The White Mountain School takes substance use very seriously. We encourage healthy choices through our rules, positive peer pressure, and conversations between faculty and students. WMS believes that drug and alcohol abuse are serious health issues. As such, we have a drug and alcohol protocol system that places student health first and foremost. Students struggling with substance issues may place themselves on protocol. The school may offer protocol to a student if drug/alcohol use is suspected. The protocol system includes required substance use assessment, counseling, and unannounced drug/alcohol screens. Violation of protocol may result in dismissal, as a violation is an indicator that the issue may be more extensive than can be handled at WMS. Though no school is immune to the substance use and abuse issues facing our society today, we believe that we have a clearly stated and stringent repercussions for illegal substance use as well as a and supportive system that helps our stude
