The Code recommends: • the assessment of the organization’s current winter maintenance practices against best management practices, such as those developed by the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC); • the preparation of a salt management plan containing proposed actions to improve the organization’s salt management; • the implementation of the salt management plan; • the presentation of annual reports on the progress achieved towards the implementation of the salt management plan to allow Environment Canada to assess the impact on the environment; • the participation to the review of progress achieved by the Code of Practice.
