Top 7.What happens to my inhibitor level when I am using NovoSeven®?

Some of the plasma products used to treat inhibitor patients contain trace amounts of FVIII and FIX, that can often cause an increase in the inhibitor level. The only coagulation factor in NovoSeven® is rFVIIa, so there is no risk of increase of the inhibitor titre (an anamnestic response) in haemophilia A and B patients. People living with haemophilia have natural levels of FVIIa in their blood and do not produce any inhibitor against NovoSeven®. Moreover, the efficacy of NovoSeven® is independent of the presence of inhibitors, working equally well at any inhibitor titre. In fact, if there is a period of time when you only receive NovoSeven® treatment and no plasma products, your inhibitor level will probably decrease, although it will not disappear altogether. If you then start using FVIII or FIX products again, the inhibitor level will probably increase again.
