Tomy Walkabout Monitors – Are They Really Necessary ?
Baby monitors have been on the market for a number of years and as with most “gadgets” the variety can be quite bewildering. At present the current market leaders are Tomy, Phillips, Angelcare and Lindam. Some parents may ask themselves do they really need a baby monitor ? Well, the first thing to bear in mind is that baby monitors should never, EVER be a substitute for parent vigilance. It should only be used as a back up device for extra peace of mind. Having said that, walkabout monitors of the type used by Tomy and Philipps are an excellent aid for parents who want to keep a “watchful ear” on their baby. Walkabout monitors are essentially like a basic walkie talkie that use radio frequencies to transmit noises from the infant’s room to the parent’s receiving unit.
