Today i went to the dollar store and offered a dollar for the store and the manager laughed and said it was worth alot more. Is there anyway i can sue them for false advertising?
You can sue almost anyone for almost anything, but I think that a reasonable person and a reasonable court would agree that the advertising of $1 refers to the merchandise rather than the real estate. Point 1: You got to choose your battles. Most courts would throw out that idea. Reasonable people would be led to believe that the things for sale in the store are one dollar, not the store itself. If you look at the “advertising” to which you are referring, I’d bet that it implies that the merchadise is what is for sale. That is to say, if the store said “everything inside 1 dollar” that is excluding the store itself. Please do not tie up the court system with this kind of foolishness. And just suppose for a second that the manager (who is not the owner anyway and cannot “sell” the store) eagerly agreed with you and gave you the title for the property for a dollar only to find that you were inept at running a dollar store and furthermore, that the property was actually a liability due to
