Today, are casinos run by Native American tribes effective in sustaining the tribes?
In my opinion casinos generally are beneficial for Indians. They are beneficial economically because Indians are the poorest people in the land. Casinos have made it possible for Indians to achieve many things such as being able to live in better homes, have better health care and provide benefits for their children such as better educational opportunities. Also Indians are able to hire smart people to run their casinos, who invest their money in stocks, etc. which helps them save the money they earn and earn additional income. So, on the whole, gambling on reservations has been very beneficial to Indian tribes. Unfortunately most tribes do not have casinos and so the majority of Indians still suffer from poverty, disease and a very bad home life. It is a mistake to beleive all Indians are rich because of casinos. 3- Should federal government decisions today favor the preservation of old Native American places and ways or the benefit of the nation?
