Tobacco smoke causes deaths and disabilities due to lung cancer and cardiovascular diseases whereas marijuana smoke had never been known to kill anyone. Why is it that tobacco is a legal product whereas marijuana is not?
There’s no marijuana lobby running Washington D.C. Tobacco has been used for hundreds of years and became popular and extremely lucrative in the US long before government considered laws for regulating addictive substances. Compared to tobacco and alcohol, marijuana is relatively safe. I expect it will never be legalized, though, as long as we have a concervative Christian bent in federal government. Consider, too, that marijuana isn’t a wonder herb. It’s not without it’s own side effetcs, such as problems with memory and learning, increased risk of heart attack after smoking, increased repiratory illness, impaired immune system and more. http://www.nida.nih.gov/Infofacts/marijuana.
