To avoid an early termination fee from my current provider, can I switch to Kinetic on a particular date?
Certainly! An estimated switch date will be created automatically as you enroll on the Kinetic website. If this estimated switch date is after the expiration date of your current contract and if the date works for you, the switch is free. This is called a “normal switch.” Dates for “normal switches” are set by your transmission and distribution utility (TDU) and usually don’t involve a fee. If the estimated switch date shown during enrollment falls before your contract expiration date or if the switch date doesn’t work for you, you may schedule a specific date for your switch. This is called a “self selected” switch and the fee ranges from $5 to $27 depending on your TDU. This fee is charged by your TDU and Kinetic Energy will not profit from it. We think it’s a good idea to check with your current provider to verify your contract expiration date so you can avoid unexpected fees when you switch to Kinetic.
