This RFA requires both computational and biomedical/experimental investigators as collaborating PIs. Who is a computational researcher?
The computational PI will be the member of the team with key responsibility for modeling and simulation approaches used in the research. These simulations should be quantitative and should mathematically describe the underlying physical or chemical processes or accompanying feedback regulations at molecular, cellular, tissue, or whole organ levels. Applications would be deemed non-responsive if their mathematical component is limited to statistical analyses of data rather than quantifying underlying physical and chemical processes and accompanying feedback regulations at molecular, cellular, tissue, or whole organ levels.
