I am thinking seriously of getting a 2007 or 2008 Volvo S40 Program car with the 2.4i 5 cylinder motor with automatic. No frills, no turbo. I hear they get good gas mileage as well. I would be replacing a 2000 VW diesel beetle. I would go back with a 2008-9 Jetta diesel, but diesel keeps going up and VW will charge too much for the option. Any opinions on the S40? It drives really well and seems sturdy. I can probably buy a program car for around $21,000 with only 6 thousand miles on it. Any help appreciated! A: I have a 2006 and love it. I got it with all the accessories, though. It isn’t a very smooth ride like a BMW, but it does get great gas mileage. I get about 26 mpg and I am a really hard driver. You can get 30 if you are a lighter driver. The seats are very comfortable and I love the floating center console.
