Theres a track on the album called Sugar Daddy. Where did that come from?
“I was in a club in Dublin a few years ago and Bono was there. I asked him to write me a song, which I’ve been trying to get him to do for a while. He said, ‘Let’s talk about yourself’. He kept picking my brains and asking about my childhood in Wales. When I met him at a club in London a couple of years later, he said, ‘I think we’ve got it’ and sang ‘Sugar Daddy’ for me right there in the club. It’s a bragging song.”It’s hard to imagine Bono singing a song called ‘Sugar Daddy’.”Well, Bono said to me, ‘It’s you in this song, it’s what you told me about yourself’. So I replied, ‘Do I get writing credit then?’ Sadly he said, ‘No, it’s ours’.”Does Bono have a light-hearted side that the public don’t see?”Oh yeah, he’s got a great sense of humour. He’s 99 miles a minute! He loves to talk and he’s very much like me – I think it’s a Celtic thing. We’ve been on a few nights out together and he likes a drink as well, so we’ve had some fun.”You’ve got some impressive celebrity connections: Elvi
