Well, actually domestic violence can have a huge impact on divorce action. It can impact custody, it can impact visitation, a person may even wind up with monitored visits, supervised visits and they have to pay for that. It can be as much as $60 an hour to pay to see your child. There’s also likelihood that if you have a finding of domestic violence it can impact your job, your career field. If you’re a teacher or a police officer you can possibly lose your job. I think it’s very important to know that many judges look at domestic violence differently. I’ve been in court where viewing a case and a guy had splashed some water on his wife and there was a finding of domestic violence based upon that splash. Then I was in another courtroom with another judge and the lady had actually suffered injuries and she was in the hospital. And the judge in that particular case found no domestic violence. So there’s a huge amount of discretion so you had to be very careful when you’re going through
