There seems to be a possible tension between the use and creation of free software and designs, and the goal of development of an indigenous IT industry. How do you see the relationship developing?
We see no conflict, but synergy. Linux has shown that software capabilities have only increased with the availability and use of Unix in the early days of computing in India and more recently with Linux. By making available the SImputer hardware under SGPL, we believe that the barrier to entry to hardware system development will be lowered.
