There is not enough older music, not enough newest music, not enough slow dances, too many slow dances – why is that?
When we started Dee’s Dances, we were popular because we always played the newer contemporary, Top 40 music mixed with requests for older music. Everybody thinks they know what everyone else wants to hear when in fact, everyone in the room has different musical tastes and at any given time, someone will love the music while others will hate it. We try to play enough variety that will satisfy the majority of tastes in the room and do so based on the requests that are made. We have found that playing 3 – 4 faster songs to 2 slower songs seems to be a good mix of fast and slow, but will sometimes keep things moving a little longer if the crowd is really in to it.
