There is a Gross Wt./Base listed on my renewal notice – what is that?
Trucks (one ton and greater) and trailers are taxed upon the gross weight of the vehicle. This is the weight displayed on the renewal notice. Registration tax for passenger vehicles is determined in part upon the base value of the vehicle as provided by the manufacture when the vehicle was new. This is the base that is listed on your renewal notice. It does not represent the current value of the vehicle. Registration tax is also determined by the age of the vehicle.
