There has been a lot of publicity in the press about LEP’s. What are they and can any employer, regardless of size, take part?
Local Employment Partnerships (LEP’s) are an exciting, new collaboration between Government and business to tackle the increasing recruitment and skills challenges in our labour market and economy, not least within Tees Valley. As an employer you will be asked to make a deal and offer people opportunities to get back into the workplace – through for example interviews, mentoring, on the job training or work trials. In return you will get the chance to recruit people you might not have previously considered – people who are eager to work and have the core skills you need. This is all done with the minimum of hassle, risk or cost. In other words, it is a quality recruitment service to benefit your business. Being a LEP employer will also demonstrate, in the local community, that you have faith in the local workforce and that you want to provide job opportunities for local people.
