Information about designated and named safeguarding professionals is being collected in the 2007/08 mapping exercise at the organisation level as we recognise that designated professionals provide a strategic role across Trusts and may not be attached to any single team. Questions about designated and named professionals are just some of the new questions on safeguarding that have been introduced at the organisation level in the mapping exercise this year. These questions have been developed at the request of the Department of Health who want to use the mapping exercise to monitor implementation of “Working Together to Safeguard Children” (HM Government, 2006).
