Furnace Bottom Ash is produced at all the power stations and has been used in the manufacture of lightweight concrete blocks used for building for many years. It has proven to be a effective aggregate producing a strong and durable product and yet using a recycled material. All the FBA produced in the UK is fully utilised in block manufacture. Unfortunately there is unlikely to be any surplus material for other applications in the foreseeable future.
