But just like any other company they make it sound so simple but it isn’t. The way they work is by making you register and get you listed on a recurring payment of $29.99 per month. Once you become a member then you are granted access to a control panel through which you will be able to build your website. Building your own website through this mean is very simple; you will have a collection of templates to choose from. Then, you will be able to insert blocks in your pages that will represent the different sections of your page in content. Building your own website will be a delightful experience, but at the same time it will be a worthless effort.
Once your pages are designed all you need to do is click on a button that say “publish” and there you go. Your website is now live.
The one thing you do not know is that the website is never yours, and if at one point you want to take away your website then you are fried because the website you built by your self with out barely any skills of web development belongs to the system. The next ordeal with “do it your self web sites” is that they have a huge selection of web template that you can use to build your website, but they are really not all that! There is nothing like a real custom designed website that only you own and not 150 other members like yourself.
Then there is something very funny and sad at the same time of the so called “build your own website”; as I watch the TV commercial at the end they explain how simple it is to design your own website, no need to wait, simply choose a layout, insert your content, publish and get found on the search engines. Oh common, for the love of God. Website owners are spending over 10,000 per day in advertising in order to be found on search engines. Now, I can deal with all the magic illusion of designing your own website for only $29.99 per month, but not this.
The bottom line is this; you can design your own website and it might work for you for a determined period of time, but when you are ready to start a real marketing campaign then you better have a real designed website. A website that has all the codes and structure as required by all the major search engines.
What is the best option you can take? Have a professional web developer design your website, they are still around! Have him build you a website that validates in Google and many of the major search engines around and ask him that you want the ability to make changes in your pages. Make sure that you do your research and you learn the basics of the Internet and owning your own website. Make sure that once your website is finished you will be in control of your domain name, your hosting account and even the back end of the website. This method is more expensive than $29.99 per month, but on the long run it is the best.

There are a lot of reasons why we don’t endorse or support these services: Most of them make it difficult, if not impossible, to do what needs to be done for the search engines. Without the search engines, you might as well not even bother. These services use templates, and you are limited to whatever those templates allow. Furthermore, you will have to fit your information into their structure, as opposed to having the structure fit to your needs the way we do. While these companies might provide information about promoting your web site (a lot of it is useless), it’s not the same as having a consultant working with you to get the most out of your investment.
