Ans. In the CBSE system the student faces a three hour examination in Std X. Leading educators believe it is unnecessary and unwarranted that small children face the experience of lengthy exams which can cause tension and trauma and make the child develop a hatred for learning. Hence training in retentive skills and examination methodology may begin after Std IX as per CBSE guidelines. Standardised testing methods the world over, are holistic in approach. They test aptitude and comprehensive subject skills rather than mere abilities of retention and reproduction of facts. They are also objective rather than subjective in methodology.
