The use of soothers and healthy development – what should be borne in mind?
Babies love sucking. It relaxes and calms them – when drinking as well as when sucking a soother. Orthodontic soothers, if no longer used by the child’s third birthday, support healthy development. When the child wants to sleep, needs comforting or wants to relax, he or she will be happy about having a soother. When playing, it is as unnecessary as when attempting to talk. Because it is much easier to stop a child sucking a soother than their thumb, paediatric doctors recommend soothers.
