The United States Air Force Academy : What is it All About?
In my last article I discussed basic information about the five federal service academy. Today I would like to give everyone some more exposure to things that make the United States Air Force Academy unique. I will need to converse with some friends from the other academies, but would like to do articles about each of them in the future. Creation: In 1947 the National Security Act declared that the United States would develop an independent Air Force.Between then and 1955 the Air Force made the long transition from being the Army Air Corps. The uniforms slowly began changing, the customs and courtesies would slowly change, and the Air Force become something of its own with strong roots in the Army that continue today. In the early 50’s it became clear however though that of the current Air Force officers, more than 75% of them had originally graduated West Point or been Army officers through ROTC.
