The cross over from black to white is supposed to be when you go from manifold vacuum to positive manifold pressure. When you rev the engine, for example, the gauge swings up on the pedal depression and then immediately drops back down as soon as the engine speed stops accellerating upward. However, the turbine is still spinning very fast at this point, even though the boost is back at idle vacuum. That is why you aren’t supposed to rev the engine before shutting it off.
