The transfer case in my 2006 Jeep Liberty does not work?
I recently bought a 2006 Jeep Liberty 4×4 and it was fine. The 4×4 engaged when I pulled on the transfer case and I used it 2 times, each for only seconds at a time. A couple of days ago, the roads were very slippery, so as I tried to engage the transfer case, it came up very fast and in both 4wHi and 4wLo modes, it did not engage. The car stayed in 2wd. Also, I want to note that I have the “part time(4wD)” light problem that many others have. The part time light engages when I am in 2wd. Any suggestions about the problem. I bought it from an auction, but it was a well maintained fleet vehicle before I bought it, so are there any other suggestions? What do you mean position switch and by bad. Im sorry, lol A: It sounds like the linkage has come loose from the transfer case itself. Our shop had one come in that a four foot pry bar would not move the arm on the transfer case. It is most likely in the tranfer case itself. As for the part time light coming on that is probably a malfucntion
