NEVER enter a septic tank or pump chamber. Never stick your head down below the cover of the tank even to view the inside of the tank. Hire a professional to provide any service necessary. They should have the proper equipment and training to safely conduct the work. Poisonous or explosive gasses are present within the tanks. The poisonous gasses can work so fast they can render you unconscious in a matter of seconds. Unconscious in a poisonous atmosphere equals death.
