The Stylus 740 offers a Silent Mode. What is it, and how does it work?
In Silent Mode, the camera emits no audible cues. It will not beep when capturing an image or when making menu selections, and it will not ring an alarm when the alarm clock is set and the appointed time arrives. Instead, the camera will issue a visual cue when the alarm activates while the camera is in Silent Mode. The LCD monitor will turn on and display the time. To activate Silent Mode, first place the camera into any shooting mode other than [GUIDE], and then press the [MENU] button. Press the Right Arrow and then the Down Arrow to select [Silent Mode]. Press the [OK/FUNC] button to access the Silent mode menu. Use the Up or Down arrow button to choose [ON], and then press [OK/FUNC] again to activate Silent Mode. To disable Silent Mode, repeat the above procedure but at the Silent Mode menu choose [OFF] instead of [ON].
