There are a myriad of problems with regard to the issue of falling standard of education in Nigeria. Take it or leave it, the standards are obviously falling, assuming that the entire standards have not already collapsed. The level of teaching and learning facilities that should be provided in all schools to foster effective learning is no longer there. Most schools in Nigeria today (and I can say 75% of schools in Nigeria at all levels) do not have basic requirement for teaching and learning. When I say teaching and learning I am talking about books, learning equipment and availability of sitting facilities, ordinary seats for pupils to learn on. In some cases the entire school building is in tatters. In other cases, some school, do not even have class rooms at all and pupils are forced to learn under trees. Under such circumstance, there is no way any body will say that meaningful learning is taking place. I am saying this with all sense of purpose that cuts across all level of publi
