The South Florida Fair last year drew, what, about 700,000 people?
A. Our reported attendance here is about 700 [thousand], maybe 750 [thousand]. Our paid attendance is somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 [thousand]. What you have in the fair business, with all the exhibitors and stuff, that’s not paid atttendance, obviously. And then we have a lot of people that come to the fair — civic groups and some agencies that you feel might not otherwise come — you try to help them out a little bit. Q. How does the South Florida Fair compare with the Broward County Fair? A. Strictly attendance, we outdraw Broward County Fair. We have 130 acres here, we’ve got close to 210,000 square feet under roof, we’ve just built a brand new livestock barn and the show ring. We’ve been on these fairgrounds here since 1957. So in many, many ways we have more of a history than I would say the Broward County Fair. They got started in about 1978 or ’79. Q. From how far afield do people come, either as participants or as visitors to the fair? A. [From outside Palm Beach Count
