The song is about bullying, how literal are the lyrics?
All of the details in the song are taken from real-life experiences. Like everything on Curiouser, it was co-written with my partner Keir Nuttall. He had a great time at high school. I had a pretty traumatic time. That was when music and songwriting started to become a real refuge for me. You experienced a boost in sales of your song The Last Day on Earth because it appeared on the Australian soap Neighbours. Were you expecting that to happen? I wasn’t expecting it at all. That song was never even going to be a single. We didn’t play it at all during the last tour. My publishers played the song to some of the music people at channel 10, and they saw a good fit with the impending death of a major character. Who knew death could be so fruitful?
