However, the load was built for low resistance and these two numbers do not indicate that the load performs equally well under light load. This is possible since the load has externally mounted exchangeable shunts that may be selected to match the maximum current. Therefore, if the present experiment only requires a 10 Amp maximum current the user can select a suitably sized shunt. At a later time, the station may be testing large active area cells or stacks and the user may then exchange the shunt once again to suit the test. Basically, the load was designed to provide an extremely low terminal resistance (under 1 milliohm) so the large power and current ratings come for free.
