The survey of all lands in the Dominion of Canada was completed in the 1800’s. The survey plan used a grid pattern with road allowances dividing lands into a patchwork of squares. This ensured no land would be inaccessible or unusable without trespass. The road allowances bordering our lands are the remnants of unused roadways.
