The Senior Center makes money by providing funeral escorts. Who are they, and what do they do?
The funeral escort program is an innovative partnership with the Faribault Police Department and the local funeral homes. In many communities, a funeral escort from the church to the cemetery is provided by the local police department. This often takes away from the other calls that the department needs to make. But in Faribault volunteer drivers from the Senior Center are trained to do the escort. This service is optional for the family of the deceased and there is a minimal charge to them. This fee then in turn is passed along to the Senior Center.
