Do you know the maker of your touchpad? If not, the maker of the laptop might work. First go to the site of your laptop’s manufacturer. There should be a place where you can find the drivers for your scrollpad. (Since I don’t know the make of your laptop, I can’t really give any step by step instructions. The websites will usually tell you how to install the driver after you have downloaded it.) If that installation doesn’t work, try to find out who makes your touchpad and go to their website and download the drivers there. (Following for Windows only. I’m sure there’s a way to do it on Mac. I’m a novice Linux user, so I’m not really sure how to do it on Linux) Another option is to allow Windows to try and update or rollback the driver. 1. Open Device Manager. (If you have Vista, just type Device Manager into the search bar, and it will pop up.) 1.a. (Windows XP, though I may be wrong since I haven’t used XP in a while.) I have this happen quite often…. the scrolling function of the mouse/touch pad stops working. You won’t believe what fixes it for me. When the scroll stops working on my laptop touch pad, I go to my yahoo page and do a search on “laptop mousepad stops working”. When the search results are displayed, the scroll function magically works again. I know it sounds crazy, but it works every time. I have even tried testing this by searching on other things, but other searches don’t work. It’s baffling, but true.
