The scroll rate in Red Alert is so fast that its nearly unplayable, how can I slow it down?
If your computer is so blazingly fast that even when the slowest level is selected you still cannot cope with the speed of the scroll rate you can try tweaking the configuration file. Open up the file, “redalert.ini” in your Red Alert game folder. Have a look in the “[Options]” list for an entry called “ScrollRate=”. Change the number next to the equals sign to “7” and save the file. To make sure the game doesn’t try to override this new setting, right click on the edited configuration file, select properties, and make sure that there is a checkmark next to “Read-only”. Close all your open dialog boxes, start up Red Alert as usual and you should notice the scroll rate is now slightly slower. This fix is far from perfect; variable scrolling speeds have been reported and the scroll rate appears to reset itself if you change the slider in the game menu.
