The requirement for students to provide evidence to the UK Border Agency of English language ability only applies to students at NQF level 5 or below. As a general rule, if you are coming to Cambridge to study at Honours (undergraduate) level, your NQF Level is 6, for Masters it is Level 7 and for a Doctorate it is Level 8. In Appendix 8 (the self assessment form for students applying for visas from outside the UK) questions 5.9 to 5.14 do not apply to our students. Tick ‘No’ for question 5.6, skip question 5.7 and select ‘Yes – at NQF level 6 and above including Foundation degrees and equivalents’ for question 5.8 – this allows you to jump to question 5.15 and continue with the rest of the form.
