The Rosary – A Gang Sign?
It’s happened again. For the second time in two weeks, a NY school district has suspended a 7th grade student for wearing a Rosary to school. Raymond Hosier – who says the religious artifact brings him comfort – received a two-day suspension last week – the school district saying it violated school policy – and what’s worse compared the Rosary to a gang symbol. When Raymond returned to school – wearing the Rosary – he was immediately suspended again. The American Center for Law and Justice is defending 13-year-old Raymond Hosier – preparing to file a federal lawsuit standing up for his rights to express his religious speech – at school – something the Supreme Court has made clear more than 40 years ago. This school district continues to violate this First Amendment rights of this student and the ACLJ is preparing for a legal battle.
