Older readers sometimes blink if there is a buildup of dust on the fingerprint window area. The reader can be easily cleaned by applying the sticky side of a piece of adhesive cellophane tape on the window and peeling it away or can be cleaned with a cloth dampened with a mild ammonia-based glass cleaner. See Question 5 for details on the cleaning procedure.
