Fire-Link is designed for low-rise, multi-residence, combustible building applications and not for high-rise installs. In most, if not every, combustible building fire alarm installs, the signal circuits are wired using FT1, 14/2 Loomex (Romex) and not FT4 fire alarm cable because of voltage drop issues associated with using 18/3 fire alarm cable. Power line wiring is also FT1 Loomex (Romex) so Fire-Link is using the same wire as most fire alarm signal circuits. Remember, the intent of the Fire-Link product is to alert residents who have trouble hearing the system fire bells from inside their suites of a fire situation, expedite evacuation and possibly save lives. High-rise applications tend to have all wiring enclosed in metallic jacket or in EMT conduit so all wires are fire protected. This is the same as the power line wiring, also in EMT conduit.
