The play “A Dolls House”… how does it end?
The second letter Nora’s husband (Torvald) received was from Torvald’s employee. In a nutshell the second letter was letting Nora off the hook for borrowing money for their holiday to Italy. You left the theatre not long before the end of the play so you didn’t miss very much. Basically Nora realised she had gone from living in her father’s “dolls’ house” directly to her husband’s “dolls’ house” and had never been anything other than their ideal of what a woman should be. Despite having Torvald’s forgiveness for the borrowing of money, Nora leaves him and their children as she had become aware of the oppression she was living under. She wanted to be her own person and not just her husband’s doll living in her very own dolls’ house. It’s a great play, absolutely heaped in symbolism!
Nora goes ape **** crazy at the husband with a chainsaw, tearing the letter in twain. Christina is found out to be a 52 year old male midget living in a caravan in Surrey. Turns out the husband saved Christina (real name Chris the Mini-Man) from gonorrhea. They all meet up in the end, and share a love sweeter than Mickey Mouse’s smile.
