The Parking Lot at Broad Run is over full. What is VRE Doing?
Unfortunately, it may be some time before the parking situation is resolved. As you may know, VRE does not own the majority of the parking lots at our stations, including Broad Run, which is owned by Prince William County. VRE, along with Prince William County, expanded the Broad Run parking lot in 2001, doubling its capacity. When this lot was expanded, our most optimistic growth projections indicated that this additional parking would be ample through 2010. Then, our Broad Run station parking went from only 86% full in December 2002 to over 100% capacity in January 2003 almost overnight. That trend has continued throughout the year. We understand that the current lack of parking has caused you quite a bit of frustration. We know that, ultimately, the only way to solve this is with additional parking spaces.
