The iPhone’s headphone jack is inset in it’s chassis, it uses a standard 3.5mm stereo connector but requires a smaller plastic jacket to insert into the phone. These are available from iPhone accessory dealers (or you can just carefully trim down the connector jacket on one end of our audio cable to make it fit. Note that the iPhone3G headphone jack is no longer recessed, so there’s no issue with it.
