The Ombudsman: Why did the newspaper ever make that mistake?
It seems incredible that a Muslim extremist could be identified as a “Muslin extremist,” particularly on the front page of this newspaper. But it happened recently. Few readers noticed because it appeared only in a limited number of papers in the press run, a result of a late-night change. It is entirely possible more readers noticed the correction, which ran promptly, than the original error. To tell you the truth, at first, I didn’t notice the spelling error. The sad thing is that even if Muslim is not misspelled it is not unreasonable to assume that the newspaper would consider it a mistake.
