Thursday May 14, 2009The New York Department of Education recently announced that they will no longer be hiring externally to fill their job vacancies. In other words, new teachers need not apply; public schools will only consider internal candidates for the time being, except in high-needs specialty areas such as bilingual instruction and speech therapy. So what are new educators to do? Many are turning to private schools to search for opportunities. Officials recommend that new teachers should remain “committed and flexible” and I agree.
