The name on my ticket doesnt match my passport – will i get away with it?
That could depend on who you get at the check in desk, recently I returned from Holland where I have relatives so travel there quite frequently, the old cow at the check in desk was making problems up for everybody, my self included, only thing was as I wa a frequent flyer I knew it was all rubbish so stayed calm and eventually got though; if you get one like that then she could prevent you checking in. The people behind me she told they weren’t allowed to board the plane as their ticket had been purchased by someone with a different name to theirs – how ridiculous! Then she told me, after trying to make lots of other problems that I got through, that I could not have my husband’s luggage and mine together in the same suitcase as we had different surnames!!! Utter twaddle. Then she told my disabled mother that she could not have and assistance because she’d managed to walk from the door to the check in desk, (20m max) therefore in her opinion mother could climb the stairs (wrong) and w
I have this issue all the time, my first name is Cassandra and even when I fill out the forms correctly they quite often process it wrong. Most airlines it is easy to phone up and have it changed, so I would do that to avoid any hassle at the airport. I was stopped when I flew back from Iceland because my school had left an ‘S’ out of my first name – but they let me through because the picture looked like me. They can’t really stop you flying over something as petty as that, but it does depend on who you get handling your passport at the check in! Phone them and change it to give you peace of mind, but you should be fine. Have a nice holiday!
You should be able to change the name on your ticket pretty easily. Just call the helpline (if its Ryanair, it won’t cost you to change your first name spelling – I had to do this for a friend, as I booked his flight & got his name wrong). It’s better to call them to find out – as you are the same person travelling, it’s just a case of saying what you have told us,. Happy travels!
You should do your best to get it changed. I was a travel agent for many years and the security on these things has really stepped up. If you’re going within the EU you probably won’t get more than a glance at your passport but if you’re off to the States or Canada it’s more serious. You should inform the holiday company or airline, in any event, just to be on the safe side.
