The Millennium was ten years ago now, why is the programme still called Millennium Volunteers?

A Millennium lasts for 1,000 years – it will be another 990 years before the name is out of date! More seriously, Millennium Volunteers has built up a reputation across the UK for being a sign of quality and recognition for volunteering opportunities. If we changed the name, it would be another ten years at least until we had that reputation again. We do tend to refer to it as ‘MV’ now, which is less of a mouthful. Also, in Scotland and Northern Ireland, MV is still known by that name and in England it is only one letter away as ‘V’.
