The LiMON indicates a reduced elimination of ICG-PULSION. Is it possible to derive from the results any information, whether liver blood flow or the function of the liver cells itself is reduced?
The global liver function is always composed of liver blood flow and parenchymal excretory function, which cannot be differentiated by a single one-spot test. A reduced elimination of ICG-PULSION can be caused by a reduction in liver blood flow or by reduced parenchymal function or by both. However, an increased elimination within a short period of time (e.g. 30 min) would indicate an improvement of liver blood flow, whereas according to current knowledge it is most unlikely, that the excretory function of the liver can improve so fast.
