The KT-70 Mode S Transponder that I just purchased and installed is locking up and not working properly. What could be the problem?
Upon receiving the KT-70 from Southeast Aerospace, you should note that the back two connectors on the unit are sealed with ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) tape. See the image below for example. In order for the unit to work properly, both pieces of ESD tape need to be removed before use. The tape could cause the microprocessor to short out. Even if you are not using the external EEPROM board kit, which connects to the smaller connector on the right side of the unit, the tape still needs to be removed.
